Cape Town city and its rural environs was largely built by slave labourers and craftsmen. During much of the 18th century the majority population of Cape Town were slaves. A large part of our cultural make-up can be attributed to our slave ancestry and the experience of slavery. This blogsheet is dedicated to look at slavery in the Cape and its links to indigenous peoples and others in South Africa.

HI ZINTO, please contact me regarding the image you posted of slavery in the late 1600's. I'm currently trying to find the rights and permissions owner of this particular image for publishing purposes and wonder if you'd be able to help.
